The District helped me put my life back together. There is something seriously special about this community — the house managers genuinely care whether you show up.
Adrianna T.
The District gave me the tools I needed to begin a healthy life. Accountability, sober role models, and a safe house to process my trauma — not a hospital bed.
Alec F.
This sober living community gave me peace and helped so much with my sobriety. The house made me comfortable enough to start working on myself.
Abby L.
This is by far the best sober living community our family has encountered. I feel part of my nephew’s success is due to the structure he received here.

What the house actually does

Sober living

A real house with chores, curfews, and people who notice if you disappear. Not a motel with a meeting flyer.

Monitored testing

Random testing is part of the lease of trust. We do not debate whether that is “too strict.”

Personal accountability

House managers, written expectations, and consequences that are explained before someone moves in.

Jobs and rides

Help finding work and getting there. Recovery that never leaves the couch does not last.

Who District sober living is for

Young adults who need a sober home with structure — men's or women's houses in Orange County (West), Orange County (Central), Orange County (North), and Orange County (East). Pets are welcome at every house. Couples live in separate District homes. Same-day move-in is possible when a bed is open — admissions answers 24/7.

Who should call about detox or rehab first

If someone still needs medical detox or inpatient treatment, that comes first. The District does not provide clinical care — start with how medical detox works in Orange County, then talk to admissions about pairing a District house with outpatient care nearby.

Calling for someone you love?

Tell admissions who you are calling for, whether they need a District bed or detox first, and which part of Orange County matters for work or family. Ask what an honest screen covers before anyone sees a street address — our choosing guide lists questions families use.

What sober living costs

We do not publish a price online. Orange County sober living is usually private pay, and rates change. Read what sober living typically costs in Orange County for market context and questions to ask.

Call admissions for the current rate. What you pay never depends on which treatment program you choose.

Sober living and treatment in Orange County

Many residents keep a District house while they attend PHP, IOP, or outpatient nearby — evenings and nights at home, clinical hours during the day. We do not provide those programs; we help you find licensed options and stay housed while you compare them.

How to choose a sober living home

  • Ask whether the operator actually runs the house or is only listing beds.
  • Confirm men's, women's, or co-ed rules before you tour.
  • Ask how testing, meetings, and work expectations are enforced.
  • Ask when you will see the actual room — not a stock photo.
  • Ask what happens if someone uses — in writing, before move-in.

Full guide: choosing sober living in Orange County

From first call to move-in

  1. 1

    Call or send the form

Same day if you need a bed this week. Tell us the part of Orange County you searched from — Irvine, Anaheim, Costa Mesa — so we start with the closest house.

  2. 2

    Honest screen

Who it is for, work or school, court, and which District area is the best fit.

  3. 3

    See the house

We send current photos of the actual bed — and a house walkthrough when we have one ready. Street addresses stay private until screening.

  4. 4

    Move in

Rules, testing, chores, and a first-week plan (meetings + job or school) before anyone unpacks.

Sober living in Orange County

How much does sober living cost in Orange County?

We do not publish a rate online. Sober living in Orange County is usually private pay. Our cost guide explains how local rents compare and what to ask on a call — then call admissions for the current rate at The District.

How long do people stay in sober living?

It varies by person, job, court requirements, and outpatient schedule. Many residents stay several months while they stabilize work and step-down care. Admissions can talk through what makes sense for your situation.

Are sober living homes licensed in California?

California DHCS licenses treatment programs — not sober living homes. The District is structured sober living, not a licensed rehab. We can point you to our guide on verifying a treatment program’s license if you need clinical care.

Does insurance pay for sober living?

Rent at a sober living home is generally not covered like inpatient rehab. Some people use savings, family help, or disability income. Insurance may still matter for outpatient treatment nearby — admissions can help you think through questions to ask your plan.

Can someone move in the same day?

Often, yes, when a bed is open and screening lines up. Admissions answers 24/7 at (888) 871-2088. Late-night form submissions may get a callback the next morning — call if it is urgent.

Do you have men's and women's houses?

Yes. Every area we operate in has men's houses and women's houses. We do not run co-ed homes.

Are pets allowed?

Yes — pets are welcome at every District house. Ask admissions about pet rules when you call.

Can couples stay together?

Couples live in separate District houses. They can see each other during PHP, outpatient, and aftercare programs when those schedules overlap.

Are there recovery meetings near your homes?

Orange County has hundreds of in-person meetings each week. Area pages list meeting density near each District area. Our meetings guide explains how to use the local directory.

Do you publish house street addresses?

No. Addresses stay private until after a confidential screen so current residents are not advertised on the open web.

Written by The District admissions team · Updated November 2026. House street addresses are shared after screening so current residents stay private.
